In our 3rd Classical Crossover Lockdown Concert, we see artists from England, Wales, Sweeden, Italy, Ireland, and the USA unite together to provide entertainment during the lockdown.

A little about the performers:

Athena Trio

ATHENA sees classical singers Gwawr Edwards, Sioned Terry and Ellen Williams come together in harmonious union. This dynamic trio pleased audiences to standing ovations on their Encore UK tour coinciding with the release of their debut album, which features Welsh favourites such as Calon Lân, classical favourites such as Puccini’s O Mio Babbino Caro and Caccini’s Ave Maria, and new arrangements of Moon River and Bridge Over Troubled Water.

Recent highlights for the trio include a performance in the Royal Albert Hall as part of the Salvation Army’s annual carol service, a televised performance from the Wales Millennium Centre, and joining the Pontarddulais Male Choir and British Sinfonietta in concert in the Brangwyn Hall in Swansea. The trio can’t wait to return to their love of live performance as soon as it’s safe to do so.

Angie Diggens

Angie Diggens is a Classical Crossover Soprano, with over 15 years Performance Experience.

Her career has taken her all over the UK, performing in beautiful Theatres, Concert Venues and stunning Cathedrals as well appearing on ‘ITV’s Stars in Their Eyes’ as Sarah Brightman in the LIVE Final.

Angie’s versatility, both Vocally and Musically, allows her to turn her hand to a wide range of styles (including Opera and Classical Infusion, Musical Theatre, Popular and Jazz)

Classical Reflection

At 25 years old, Naomi and Hannah perform in some of the UK’s most prestigious venues. They’ve performed numerous times at The Royal Albert Hall, as well as performing the national anthem at the iconic O2 Arena to an audience of 15,000. They have also had the honour of singing the National Anthem at Wembley Stadium for the Carabao Cup Final to a packed stadium of over 85,000 fans, including HRH Prince William. In December 2019, Classical Reflection were honoured to sing for The Royal Family at a private event. They have also independently released multiple albums and singles; their most recent release, ECHO, reached number 3 in the The Official Classical Charts and was broadcasted on both Classic FM and BBC Radio stations. In 2018, Classical Reflection were subsequently nominated for a Classical Brit Award for their work in Classical Music.

Christina Johnston

Despite her young age, Christina, nicknamed “The Nightingale” among many, has addressed audiences all over Europe, Asia and South America. She was accepted with scholarship when she was just 18 to The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.

In 2012 she made her operatic debut at The State Opera, Prague as The Queen of the Night in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and Adele in Strauss’s Die Fledermaus.

She has performed at Kazan Opera House, Russia as Olympia from Les contes d’Hoffmann by Offenbach, sung on tour in Europe as The Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte and Olympia from Les contes d’Hoffmann. She premiered in the production of Puccini’s Tosca and has sung 3 seasons of Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at The Estates Theatre, Prague.

Christina was previously featured on our 2nd Lockdown concert.

G4

G4 shot to fame on the first series of ITV’s The X Factor in 2004, where they pioneered the world of popular opera. Their exquisite harmonies and unique arrangements of iconic songs such as My Way, Circle of Life and Bohemian Rhapsody immediately captivated the hearts of the nation and catapulted them into instant stardom.

G4 set an exciting trend by bringing classical music to British reality TV screens for the first time in 2004 with their performance of Nessun Dorma. However, it was their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody that became their signature tune, storming the charts in 2005. Their eponymous debut album went straight to No.1, selling more than 245,000 in the first week, making it the fastest-selling album of the year.

Emer Barry

After an early start in the world of Opera, Emer found her true calling in the classical crossover genre. Her YouTube channel boasts an impressive 4 million views across the streaming platform and her global following is continuously growing. She shares the channel with award winning Celtic/Classical trio Affiniti (Harp, Violin and Soprano). The group has completed sold out tours of Washington State, Idaho, Oregon and Tricites from 2014 to 2019 and is set to tour the USA again in December 2020.

Emer is a regular guest at the National Concert Hall in Dublin and is in demand as a concert soloist. Notable engagements include Soloist with the RTE Concert Orchestra in association with RTE Lyric fm in May 2019, Tour of North America with Songs of Ireland March 2019 and Soloist with the Army Band at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby in the Curragh 2016. She was delighted to be invited to headline a performance at the prestigious Boyle Arts Festival in July 2019.

Grace Foley

​Classical Crossover singer Grace Foley is native of, and resides in, Killarney, County Kerry. Grace has studied singing since the age of 14 with some of Ireland’s leading professionals, including the late Aine Nic Ghabhann, James Nelson of The Celtic Tenors and renowned Irish soprano Virginia Kerr.

Grace is based in Killarney, County Kerry and performs in venues across Ireland and abroad as well regularly featuring on RTE television and radio, Lyric FM and local radio stations. With years of performing experience under her belt Grace has developed her own unique style, creating Classical-Crossover covers of a variety of songs.

Jonathan Cilia Faro

Jonathan Cilia Faro was born in Sicily. He began studying music at the age of 9, learning both accordion and piano. The young musician found his voice during a music lesson, a nun saw his potential and encouraged him and taught him about the beauty and power of music. Jonathan was 9 years old when he heard a record of La Boheme sung by Luciano Pavarotti and his love for Opera was born. Jonathan began to learn the art of opera from the Gianna Buniato and Nicola Martinucci who built the foundations for the performer he is today. Jonathan was the youngest tenor to audition and join the Polyphonic Pentagram Choir directed by Mo. Peppe Arezzo. Two years later Jonathan began his career as a solo artist at the age of 16.

Shortly after, he moved to Milan to record his first album, “Always Close to Me” which sold over 100,000 copies. In 2001 Cilia Faro recorded his second album, “Rebirth” which was a reflection on the traumatic experiences of his life. That same year he began a worldwide gospel tour, which led him to his third album “Symphony for Heaven”. These achievements led to Jonathan’s involvement with various philanthropic causes which support education worldwide.

Keedie

Keedie has appeared at the Royal Albert hall a number of times performing with a symphony orchestra. Over the years Keedie has supported many great artists such as Tina Turner, Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, Meatloaf, Dame Shirley Bassey, Westlife, Boyzone, Girls Aloud, Blue and many more.

Keedie recorded the film soundtrack for Mogdiliani and has toured with Aled Jones and the Bulgarian orchestra throughout Europe. She released her debut album in 2004 called “I believe My Heart”.

Keedie enjoyed chart success with Duncan James reaching number 2 in the UK charts with a song titled “I Believe My Heart” written by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. Keedie had another hit song “Jerusalem” singing it for the England cricket team.

Margaret Keys

Born in Derry, Northern Ireland her passion for music took hold at a young age and Margaret decided that she wanted to pursue a career on stage.

Margaret has performed with West End star Alfie Boe, Russell Watson, Paul Potts and was special guest to the multi- platinum selling The Fron Male Voice Choir in their recent tour to New York City and in their UK tour. She made her debut in the Royal Albert Hall in December 2015 in “Christmas with stars” which was produced by BBC Radio 2 and the TV Times. Following this performance She was subsequently invited back to perform again in the Royal Albert Hall Christmas Concert Special in 2016.

Margaret is making quite an impression on the American audiences. Since performing for Pope Francis in his recent visit to the USA she was invited to perform In The world Famous Carnegie Hall, New York in the “Holiday for Peace Concert” in December 2016 which also featured world class artists, such as Yeou Cheung Ma (Yo Yo Ma’s sister).

Margaret was featured in our first lockdown concert.

Nadia Eide

Nadia Eide is an independent official number one chart topping classical crossover soprano.

Originally from the icy north of Norway and Sweden, her voice has taken her to every continent in the world, including Antartica. She starred in leading roles in music theatre, opera and concert shows to critical acclaim before turning her attention to the music industry. She is based in the UK and performs her solo concerts worldwide.

Nadia has been featured in both our first and second lockdown concert.

Natasha Barbieri, Editor

Editor

Creator of Classical Crossover Magazine. For Natasha music has always been closely tied to her faith. At age 18, Natasha made her opera debut playing the part of the mother in Menotti’s ‘Amahl and the Night Visitors’ with the Eastern Festival Opera. At 20, she was a winner of the 2011 Young Artist Competition at Andrews University. Natasha graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor’s of Music. Natasha has released a series of Holiday singles “A Place Called Home” (2020), “One Little Boy,” and “The Perfect Year” (2021). In 2021, she was nominated for the ‘Future Classic Women Awards’ show on Men’s & Women’s Radio Station. Natasha is the creator and editor of ‘Classical Crossover Magazine’ a venture that has allowed her to interview many of the top stars in the genre including Sarah Brightman, Celtic Woman, Mirusia, Paul Potts, and more. During the covid-19 pandemic, she created an online concert series for the magazine that has seen her perform in the same line-up as Alex Sharpe, Lucy Kay, Barbara Padilla, Classical Reflection, and more on the virtual stage. In 2022, Natasha was included on the charity album “Stars of Classical Crossover: Christmas” in benefit of the Wallace & Gromit Children’s Charity.
